Analysis of the Foreign Economic Activity of the Country

On September 29, a scientific-practical conference on the theme «Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Context of Globalization: Theory and Practice» was held at the Tajik State Finance and Economics University, on the initiative of the Department of Economic Theory, in honor of the 27th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. A representative of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharipov Jamshed, an employee of the National Bank of Tajikistan Makhmadaliev Farrukhruz, an associate professor of Khujand State University named after academician Bobojon Gafurov Erkaev Safar, experts and researchers of economic sector took part at the conference.
The Rector of TSFEU Khairzoda Sh. K. opened the conference and noted that the system of foreign economic policy of Tajikistan is based on the principles of «open doors» and is aimed at strengthening friendly relations with foreign countries, which contributes to the expansion of economic cooperation.
On September 27-28, 2018 a regular meeting of the heads of the CIS countries was held in Dushanbe. One of the main issues discussed at the summit was the question of strengthening the foreign economic relations of the CIS countries. Today, the participants of our scientific conference will consider the theoretical and practical issues of improving foreign economic relations. According to the results of the work of our conference, scientifically based proposals and recommendations will be provided to the relevant authorities and departments, - summarized his speech S. Then, Doctor of Economic Sciences, the Head of Department of the Institute of Economics and Demography of Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Mavzuna Karimova made a report on the topic «The Features of Foreign Trade in the Republic of Tajikistan in the Modern Era». It was noted that in the field of foreign trade in the export of goods from the Republic of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan takes the leading place (27.1%). The second place belongs to Turkey (19.5%). In the sphere of importing goods to the Republic of Tajikistan, Russia is at the first place, and China is at the second place, in percentage terms it is 32.6% and 20%. The author of the report noted that in order to develop foreign trade, a corresponding policy has been developed, which is regulated by improved laws and adopted programs. The speaker provided information on the development strategy and advantages of foreign trade development.
Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor of the Technological University of Tajikistan Tuhfa Usmonova made a report on the topic «International cooperation is the main condition for ensuring the sustainable development of socio-economic cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan». The speaker noted that the resumption of economic and trade relations between two countries contributes to the development of the whole Central Asia.
T. Usmonova noted that the dynamics of increase in trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan testifies to the sustainable development of economic cooperation between neighboring countries, which was achieved thanks to the efforts of the leadership of the states.
It was noted that the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2017 compared to 2015 increased 7 times and amounted to 126 million US dollars, these figures last year amounted to 236 million US dollars. Imports of goods in the Republic of Uzbekistan increased by one and a half times. In the six months of this year, as compared with the same period last year, the trade turnover increased by 35% ($ 69 million) and amounted to $ 192.6 million. Our countries have great potential for the development of trade, and in the coming years, the trade turnover figures could reach 1 billion dollars, - Professor T. Usmonova summarized her speech.
Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Executive Officer of the Central Executive Committee of the PDPT Naimova M. made a presentation on the topic «Strategic goals of institutional reforms and strengthening human resources for the development of rule the government». Erkaev Safar made a speech on the topic «National unity is a factor in the development of the world economy in the modern era».
In the afternoon, the conference continued its work in sections, where many issues were considered, including such problems as: the place of Tajikistan in the international investment system; industrialization as a factor in the development of imports; improvement of relations in distribution in modern conditions; the factors affecting food security, etc.
In the final part of the conference, recommendations and proposals for the development of foreign economic activity were developed for submission to the relevant departments and agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan.
