Rogun Hydropower Station is Guaranty of Energy Independence of the Republic

On May 13, 2014 scientific-theoretical seminar on "Socio -economic Importance of the Construction Hydropower for the Economic Growth of the Republic of Tajikistan" was organized on the initiative of the Department of Economic Theory.  Teachers and students of the institute were attended there. The report of the candidate of economic sciences, associate professor Hamrokulov Sh.H. was heard at the seminar. The issues related to the development of construction hydropower and their significance for economic growth of the republic were discussed. The theme of strategic importance of Rogun Hydropower also were touched upon. It was noted that over the years the most important strategic direction of economic policy leadership of Tajikistan is to ensure energy independence of the country. In this task, priority is given to the completion of the Rogun Hydropower Station. Implementation of this project will not only provide full internal demand for electricity, but also export significant quantities to other countries. Rogun Hydropower Station has strategic importance not only for Tajikistan, but also for Central Asia. The construction of Hydropower Station planned to be implemented in several stages. The program of the construction provides of power generation after the commissioning of the first aggregate of Hydropower Station. At the first stage is provided annual electricity production of 4.5 billion KW/h ., that is 500 million U.S. dollars. Project power of Hydropower Station is 3600 MW, the average annual production is 13.1 billion kW/h.
The seminar was devoted to the actual topic. A lot of interesting questions were discussed there. The event took place lively and interesting.
