International Conference on Increase the Efficiency in Public Finance Management in Tajikistan and its Influence on Tajik Sustainable Economic Growth was held at the National Library

December 1-2, 2016, the Finance and Economics Institute of Tajikistan, in close cooperation with the EU-funded Technical Assistance “Support to selected areas of Public Finance Management Reforms: Lot 1” organized a two-day International Conference at the National Library. The 2nd Conference “Support to selected areas of Public Finance Management Reforms: Lot 1” gathered about 220 participants from 35 different organizations, bringing together policy makers, researchers, academics, telecommunication providers, and representatives of international organizations, that more than 65 persons at the 1st Conference in October 2015.

Over the course of the two days, participants attended plenary presentations, presentations of research papers, and roundtable discussions allowing for exchange of ideas. This provided forum to international academics and practitioners to discuss the development of the financial management in the context of globalization and the financial crisis, the macroeconomic development of Tajikistan and the budget process, as well as the formation of FEIT as a think tank (Think tank) for the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan, paying particular attention to improving master of PFM course, the introduction of new teaching methods, improving the work of the Think Tank Center for Advanced Studies and the FEIT Technopark.

A particularly focused attention of participants to the questions the contribution of the budget and budgetary process in achieving the objectives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan under the NDS in the period up to 2030, budget planning at the local level in the light of the MTEF, methods and approaches of forecasting of macroeconomic indicators and a regional analysis. The important result of the FEIT RWG became the first in the history of higher education institutions and economic agencies of Tajikistan issue of the Bulletin of the Think Tank Center "Markazi aklho" FEIT for detailed monitoring of the Macroeconomic Development of the Republic of Tajikistan.

This conference contributed to the expansion of cooperation with leading universities to disseminate information and the impact on research across the country, at the same time creating a joint scientific and research community in the Republic of Tajikistan. Particularly noteworthy, signed the Agreement between the FEIT, Dushanbe and RANEPA and IEP, Moscow with a view to exchanging experience and implementation skills in the field of education, research and innovation activities of universities.

In order to ensure the sustainability of the impact of the conference/ workshop, the proceedings of the conference have been edited and published to the attention of conference participating organizations.
