HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Foreign Languages was established in accordance with Order No. 41/4 of the Rector of the Tajik Financial and Economic Institute dated May 11, 2012, as a university-wide department.
Over the years, the position of Head of the Department was held by: Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S. Sobirjonov (2012–2013); Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor I.B. Dodojonova (2013–2014); Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor N.H. Tuygunov (2014–2022). Since February 2022, the Department has been headed by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor G.A. Huseynova.

An academic and methodological council operates within the Department, where faculty members deliver monthly methodological presentations and exchange teaching experience. The Department staff are actively engaged in research activities and participate in national scientific conferences and round tables with scholarly presentations.

A student academic club entitled “Knowing English is Knowing the World” functions under the Department. Active students of the Institute, including members of the departmental academic competition team, participate in the club and present various reports. Cultural evenings and events dedicated to significant historical dates are also organized.

One of the primary objectives of the Department is to provide students with adequate educational materials. Currently, curricula, syllabi, lecture materials, and assessment tests have been developed and made available to students. Open classes are regularly conducted by faculty members and discussed at departmental meetings. Numerous teaching aids, textbooks, and dictionaries have been prepared by the Department staff, offering substantial support to students. Faculty members also actively participate in all university-wide educational and extracurricular activities.

English and French languages are taught at the University both as major subjects and as general education courses.
