DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED INFORMATICS IN ECONOMICS

The Department of Applied Informatics in Economics was established in accordance with Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Professional Higher Education” and Clause 4 of the Model Regulations on Professional Higher Education Institutions, based on the order of the Rector of the Tajik Institute of Finance and Economics No. 53/i dated June 25, 2012, on the basis of the former Department of Information Technology and Logistics.

According to the decision of the Academic Council of the Tajik Institute of Finance and Economics dated 01.07.2016 (No. 14/5.3), the department was renamed “Applied Informatics in Economics.”

The department plays a key role in training specialists in higher professional education in the fields of “1-25011200 — Economic Informatics” and “98010101 — Computer Security.”

 This specialty covers a broad range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in cryptography, network security, operating system protection, application security, risk management, and compliance with information security standards.

 Faculty members actively participate in international programs such as DigEco and Erasmus, attend internships at universities in Russia, Germany, India, and Central Asian countries, and receive professional development certificates.

Department mission: To provide education in information technologies and programming for economics.

TEACHING STAFF OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department has 9 faculty members, including 5 PhD holders, 3 assistants, and 1 technical staff member.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The department maintains close scientific ties with all research institutions in the Republic of Tajikistan, contributing to the preparation of scientific materials, textbooks, and specialist training. Faculty regularly serve as official reviewers, and the department is selected as a leading organization in the field 08.00.04 – Sectoral Economics (08.00.04.01 – Economics of Industry and Energy). Over the past five years, the department has published 5 textbooks, more than 6 monographs, and 15 teaching aids.

In the context of rapid digitalization and growing cyber threats, a computer security specialist plays a key role in protecting information, information systems, and digital infrastructure. State and private institutions need professionals capable of preventing cyberattacks, data breaches, and information security violations.

This specialty is strategically important for national, corporate, and individual information security. Its primary goal is to train highly qualified specialists with theoretical knowledge and practical skills to counter modern cyber threats.
