The Women’s Council of the State University of Finance and Economics of Tajikistan carries out its activities based on the decrees of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Program “The Role of Women in Society,” the “Program for Training, Selecting, and Placing Leadership Cadres of the Republic of Tajikistan from Among Talented Women and Girls for 2007–2016,” Government Resolution No. 269 of May 29, 2010 “On the National Strategy for Activating the Role of Women in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2011–2020,” decisions of the Academic Council, orders of the university administration, decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, and other regulatory legal documents.
The activities of the Women’s Council of the State University of Finance and Economics of Tajikistan are organized in accordance with the Regulations of the Committee on Women and Family under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the University Charter, and the Regulations of the University Women’s Council. The Women’s Council cooperates with the Committee on Women and Family under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Department for Women’s Affairs of the Government of Dushanbe, Women’s Councils of higher education institutions of Tajikistan, and the executive authorities of cities and districts of the Republic, from which girls study under the Presidential quota.
It is encouraging that in recent years the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has paid considerable attention to the position and authority of women in society. Likewise, our Head of State regarding the role of women in society and the future of the community called women a great force, stating: “Our women and mothers, as a great social force, make a significant contribution to the implementation of plans aimed at a bright future.”
The Women’s and Girls’ Council contributes substantially to education, upbringing, and addressing pressing contemporary issues, and it is gratifying that today a large number of female scholars and teachers stand side by side with men, making a meaningful contribution to the preparation of highly qualified specialists.
To implement the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, “On Improving the Status of Women in Society,” many innovations have been introduced at the university. Women in the process of strengthening national statehood perform the role of guardians of culture, language, traditions, and customs, protect family values, educate children, and fulfill the mission of promoting peace and unity, actively participating in social and state life alongside men.
The Women’s Council operates in seven areas: education, upbringing, culture, health, general development, legal issues, and international cooperation. To better organize educational work among female students, each faculty elects a Chairperson of the Girls’ Council.
At the same time, talented, outstanding, and active female students from the 2nd and 3rd courses are nominated for the “School of Young Leaders” training course based on a letter from the Committee on Women and Family under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
To enhance the political culture and professional knowledge of women and female students, the Women’s and Girls’ Council of the university conducts, according to the plan, discussions and meetings with staff and students at the faculty level, centers, and dormitories, cultural competitions, round tables, sessions, and seminars on adherence to the “Recommended Dress Code for Students” and official staff uniforms, “Healthy Family – Healthy Society,” “Family is a sacred place where a child is raised,” and raising legal awareness and self-consciousness of youth to further strengthen their responsibility for maintaining the family and fulfilling the mission of protecting family values, reproductive health, consequences of early marriages, and kinship relations.
