HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL ECONOMICS

The Department of Financial Economics, as an academic and research unit of the Faculty of Finance and Credit, was established in accordance with Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Higher Professional Education” and paragraph 4 of the Model Regulation on Higher Education Institutions. It was founded by the order of the Rector of the Tajik Institute of Finance and Economics No. 53/и dated June 25, 2012. Initially, the Acting Head of the Department of Exchange Activities and Securities was appointed Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Pulodov H.N. Later, by the decision of the Academic Council dated 03.12.2012, Candidate of Economic Sciences Muminov A.B. was appointed as the Head of the Department through competition.

Subsequently, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Karaev R.Kh. was transferred by order of the rector dated 12.06.2018 No.150/111 from the Department of Economic Theory to the position of Acting Head of the Department of Exchange Activities of the Faculty of Finance and Credit. From October 2023 to February 2024, the department was headed by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Sulaymonzoda Sh.F.

From February 2024 to August 2025, the Head of the Department was Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Mirsaidov S.A.

Since September 1, 2025, the Acting Head of the Department of Financial Economics has been Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Khojaev B.B.

The department consists of experienced instructors specializing in:

These instructors significantly contribute to training qualified professionals.

Since its establishment, the department has operated based on regulatory documents and the model charter of higher education institutions. Academic staff have developed curricula and syllabi used in the learning process.

The Department of Financial Economics is one of the specialized departments of the university and plays an important role in training specialists who meet labor-market requirements. Currently, the department trains professionals in the following majors:

• 1-25010202 – Financial and Banking Economics

Training specialists in banking operations, finance, financial organizations, and the Ministry of Finance. Graduates may work as analysts, managers, financial service consultants, marketing specialists, and occupy various professional and leadership positions.

• 1-25010408 – Stock Market

Training specialists for stock exchanges, professional securities market activities, financial market analysis, investment consulting, and positions in ministries responsible for investment policy and capital-market development.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department conducts its research activities according to the 2023–2027 strategic plan titled:
“Financial Market and Issues of Its Development in the Republic of Tajikistan.”

Within this framework, the department organizes scientific seminars, conferences, publishes scientific articles, monographs, and textbooks. The department actively cooperates with domestic and foreign educational and research institutions to adopt and implement best practices.

Professors and associate professors of the department serve as official reviewers for dissertations in the following fields:
08.00.03 — Regional and Territorial Economics;
08.00.06 — Entrepreneurship Economics;
08.00.07 — Finance, Money Circulation, and Credit.

Over the past five years, the department has published 3 textbooks, more than 4 monographs, and 5 methodological manuals.
