The educational institution "Tajik State University of Finance and Economics" was established by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 169 dated March 27, 2018.

            The university was founded during the period of state independence, based on the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan No. 315 dated July 16, 1996  “On the establishment of the Institute of Tax and Law in the city of Dushanbe.” Later, in 2006, it was renamed the Tajik Institute of Economics. In 2012, based on a Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, through the merger with the Tajik Institute of Finance, the “Educational Institution – Tajik Institute of Finance and Economics” was established.

Taking into account its remarkable achievements in the field of education and training, as well as the growing status and role of the institution in the national system of training highly qualified specialists, in 2018 the Tajik Institute of Finance and Economics was transformed into the Tajik State University of Finance and Economics.

            Through the wise policy of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the fundamental decisions and laws of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, all aspects of society have progressed, and our independent homeland has become a field of creativity.

In this period of construction and renewal of the real life of the citizens of our beloved country, the issue of education and upbringing—and on this basis, access to advanced modern technologies in accordance with international standards, the training of highly qualified specialists, full awareness of the secrets of global scientific discoveries, and, consequently, ensuring the rapid development of our dear homeland—has acquired special significance.

During its relatively short period of activity, the university has achieved remarkable results. Through the devoted work of its faculty and staff, as well as the accomplishments of its students and graduate students, it has become one of the leading specialized institutions of higher professional education in the country. According to sectoral rankings, it is included among the top four institutions of higher professional education in the Republic of Tajikistan. With its strong human and academic potential, the university plays an active role in the national education and science system and serves as a modern center for training highly qualified specialists. The comprehensive support of the educational process—including professional faculty, essential learning materials, advanced educational infrastructure, technical resources, and the provision of a conducive learning environment—enables the university to enhance its prestige and authority, while establishing a strong position in addressing the critical issues of its field.

         The university provides all necessary conditions for professional training, foreign language study, and modern information and communication technologies. Educational classrooms, language laboratories, computer labs, scientific library halls, and other material and technical facilities are equipped with visual aids, modern devices, equipment, and contemporary all-in-one workstations.

It is noteworthy that these favorable conditions for study and work have been created against the backdrop of the wise and education-oriented policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. All of us contribute wholeheartedly, sincerely, and faithfully to the implementation of this policy.

For its achievements in institutional management, improving the quality of education, and implementing innovative technologies, the university was awarded the “Gold Quality Crown” on March 22, 2015, in Geneva. This prestigious award made the university a distinguished member of WorldCob and the international BID community. Additionally, on October 1, 2015, in Las Vegas, USA, the university received the BIZZ-2015 Award from the World Confederation of Businesses.

It is worth noting that the achievements of the university and its status are positively assessed by prestigious global organizations. The Tajik State University of Finance and Economics, with its high performance, ranked third in the list of the best universities in Tajikistan according to the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (Madrid, Spain). Furthermore, out of more than 30,000 universities worldwide, the Tajik State University of Finance and Economics secured the 13,862nd position, while ranking third among all universities in Tajikistan included in this ranking. The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a global university ranking system aimed at increasing the online visibility of academic institutions and research centers, as well as promoting the open publication of scientific research results.

            The Tajik State University of Finance and Economics passed international institutional accreditation from June 19 to 21, 2024, and received a special certificate for the next 5 years. The accreditation was carried out by the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IQAA), located in the Republic of Kazakhstan. IQAA accreditation standards are developed in accordance with the “Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG)”.            The Tajik State University of Finance and Economics passed the certification of the Agency for Supervision in the Sphere of Education and Science under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and received its “License and Appendix” for further activities. To determine the path for further development, the "Development Strategy of the Tajik State University of Finance and Economics for 2024-2028" was developed and adopted, which identifies the priorities and main directions of the university's development for the medium term.

            Every year, the university consistently maintains 4th place in the Ranking of Higher Professional Education Institutions, conducted by the Agency for Supervision in the Field of Education and Science under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

            The Tajik State University of Finance and Economics is a state educational institution that trains highly qualified specialists in the fields of finance, economics, and economic law in 48 specialties. Staffing the educational process is considered one of the central issues in improving the quality of education, and currently, the university has 19 doctors of science, 128 candidates of science, 216 senior teachers and assistants, a total of 363 teachers involved in educational activities.

            The university is a state educational institution of higher professional education, implementing programs of higher professional education and post-higher professional education, additional higher professional education, advanced training, and scientific and research work.

            Currently, the State University of Finance and Economics of Tajikistan has 6 faculties, 17 specialized departments, and 8 general university departments. The university trains specialists in various fields, including finance, economics, innovative and communication technologies, and economic law.

         The university has 5 educational buildings, which provide 5,670 seats for students per academic shift (11,340 in two shifts). The university has a modern and well-developed material and technical base. Currently, a total of 2,100 modern information and communication equipment units of various types have been purchased and installed at the university. The technical facilities for student training at the university include: 3 language classrooms with 70 computers, 2 1C accounting laboratories with 50 all-in-one computers, 1 digital economics classroom with 11 computers, 8 computer classrooms with 172 computers, 3 training laboratories with 15 computers, 2 language-learning classrooms with 10 laptops, 1 electronic library with 56 computers, 2 central testing centers with 186 computers.

Additionally, the university has two 1C accounting classrooms equipped with 50 modern all-in-one computers, one educational banking classroom, and one digital economics classroom with 10 computers and one touch panel. The university also has a television and radio studio equipped with the latest technology. Moreover, to strengthen the material and technical base for language learning and modern technology, modern centers have been established, where contemporary language learning programs and programming languages have been installed. In addition, all academic buildings of the university are equipped with wireless internet (Wi-Fi), which faculty members and students use during the teaching and learning process.

            In addition to undergraduate education, the university also trains specialists at the master's and doctoral (PhD) levels. In this direction, the Department of Training of Scientific and Scientific-Pedagogical Personnel and specialized departments have been established.

The university has a Dissertation Council. On October 25, 2024, by the order of the Chairman of the Committee for Supervision in the Field of Education and Science under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Doctoral Council at the State University of Finance and Economics of Tajikistan was established under Order No. 402/shd. The Dissertation Council has been granted the authority to accept and review dissertations for the award of the academic degrees of Candidate of Science and Doctor of Science. The contribution of the Dissertation Council to the training of scientific personnel at the university is extremely significant.

The university has a Scientific Library. The total collection of the university’s scientific library amounts to 120,900 copies of literature, including: 53,681 copies of specialized literature, 39,698 copies of general educational literature, 15,002 copies of scientific literature, 8,368 copies of fiction, and more than 4,151 copies of manuals and programs. The university’s scientific library also has a special hall equipped with over 200 statistical collections and dissertations to support the scientific research activities of faculty members, doctoral candidates, master’s students, and undergraduate students.

The university’s international relations have expanded to 153 higher education institutions abroad, and bilateral agreements on student and faculty exchanges have been signed. Currently, the university enrolls students from seven foreign countries: the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Turkmenistan, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the People’s Republic of China, and the Russian Federation. Every year, the university’s faculty, staff, and students travel abroad to participate in various scientific, educational, and competitive events, including contests and Olympiads.

The university has implemented the “Visiting Professor” program, which meets contemporary educational demands. Internationalization of education is one of the university’s main objectives. In this context, faculty and student business trips to foreign educational institutions, as well as the invitation of professors and instructors from abroad to the university to study advanced experience and deliver lectures, have been actively strengthened. Foreign professors, both in person and online, from Ukraine, Poland, Kazakhstan, the Baltic states, and the People’s Republic of China deliver lectures to the university’s students. In turn, the university’s faculty participate in international-level events, including forums, seminars, and professional development courses.

            Within the framework of the cooperation agreement, a Chinese language course has been established at the State Institute of International Relations, and in this course, university students in two shifts, totaling 50 people, are involved in learning the Chinese language.

            Every year, a student Olympiad among the country’s higher professional education institutions is held for the award of the “Cup of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan,” as well as the national student Olympiad. Students of the university consistently achieve first, second, and third places and are recognized with certificates of honor. Annually, the university also hosts national competitions, including “Expert on the Tax Code of the Republic of Tajikistan” and “Best Programmer,” among students of the Faculty of Information Technology and Computer Sciences. The university’s faculty and students actively engage in scientific and inventive activities, linking research with production and practical experience. In addition, faculty and students participate actively in district, city, and national-level events, earning honorary awards and distinctions.

            The Tajik State University of Finance and Economics, as a center of science, knowledge, and education, contributes to the development of highly qualified personnel in the main financial and economic areas of the country. The university provides students with all the necessary conditions for academic study, and its classrooms are equipped with modern and up-to-date technology. Specialists trained by the university throughout its history are currently working in various sectors of the national economy, public service, science, and education, with many of them being successful representatives of the business and entrepreneurial community. The university is an active participant in public life and serves as a major center for training highly qualified professionals in finance and economics, as well as scientific and pedagogical personnel.
